The headquarters of Mercedes-AMG in Affalterbach is located approximately 20 kilometres from the headquarters of Mercedes-Benz AG in Stuttgart-Untertürkheim. Hans Werner A ufrecht and Erhard Melcher founded the company AMG on 1 June 1967. The third letter of the company name stands for Großaspach, the original company headquarters at Aufrecht's birthplace.
